About GridlockPHL

What is this?

GridlockPHL is an independent daily morning briefing for Philadelphia. Every morning at 5:30am we publish a plain-English summary of what Philadelphians need to know — road closures, local news, weather, sports and city events.

No jargon. No paywalls. Just: here's what's happening in your city today.

How does it work?

Each morning our system pulls from publicly available sources — city road closure data, transit feeds, weather alerts, local news RSS feeds, and sports schedules. Everything is summarized in plain English and published by 5:30am.

Who's behind it?

GridlockPHL is an independent publication. We're not affiliated with the City of Philadelphia or any government agency, transit authority, or official body. We're just Philly commuters who wanted a better way to know what's happening before leaving the house.

Is it free?

Yes — completely free. You can subscribe to the daily newsletter to get the report in your inbox every morning.

Data sources

We draw from publicly available sources including city road closure data, transit detour feeds, the National Weather Service, local news RSS feeds (Billy Penn, 6abc, WHYY), and sports schedules. All items link back to their original sources.
